materials for a simple RC robot

Hello all,
I've read the page on RC robots and watched the video and I decided to create an RC robot. Could someone give me some advice on what brand of parts to purchase and where to purchase these parts? I'm on a somewhat limited budget but ($100-$200) but I'd like to see what other higher end products there are.

www.servocity.com and www.lynxmotion.com are a couple of great parts sources for simple RC bots.

You could build a small platform with continuous rotation servos, a micro and a radio set.  If you use a PIC for your micro, let me know.  I wrote software for the PIC that converts RC steering and throttle signals to a differential drive.

Well, I was sort of looking for the parts (receiver and servos) in the video I mentioned in my first post; if you could recommend the brands you use most often, that would be good too.

Look in to 2.4ghz radios... they will never interfere with any other radio and are legal to use on both ground and air devices.

Whats the cheapest radio and resiver. All i can find is $80-$100. I want to build little rc bot for fun.

probably the cheapest way to get a transmitter and reciever is to buy a cheap remote controlller car and steal them off of it say maybe $20

i have a exceed 4 channel radio from my broken dragonfly heli. would that work ok? how do i set it up so when i push up the robot gose foward and then push right or left it turns with 2 motors?

well technically it would be illegal to use that for ground operation... but for educational purposes(disclaimer) I'll tell you how to do it....

more then likely its four channels so when it was on the helcopter one was for this and one was for that you basically just need to figure out what does what and connect the motors right.... watch out and dont give it too much juice though

To do that you will need a V-Tail mixer. Or instead you can tilt your transmittrer 45 degrees and you have the same thing.
