building my first rc tracked robot monster

Hello,
watching videos on youtube gave me idea making my self an offroad tracked vehicle. I' m glad having found a forum where I can find help and share my ideas.
I have started to build my first robot,
and I thought it would have been easier...
It should be about:
60cm long
30cm high
30cm large
20kg
I have done the electrical system and I'm starting the chassis and the tracks soon.
RC TRACKED VEHICLE
RC TWIN MOTOR
There are probably many easier ways to get this system working, but it works.
The tracks will be made with U alumunium profiles screwed on timing belts.
The motors are 12V, 24 amps each at stall and 4 amps running free. what kind of battery would you put so it s not to heavy and have autonomy? It has to resist to bumps, roll-over... I was thinking about YUASA npc2412 used for golf caddys.
And I haven't got many ideas for suspension system or if it needs suspensions. Thanks
Samuel

Pretty cool so far. Keep the videos coming. I'm interested in seeing how it turns out.

The tracks aren' t working at all.
The belts are not a good system. I have made new ones with bicycle chains, looks much better. I' m making a simple system with no suspension or other complicated stuff...

I'm curious, is it going to be remote controlled or autonomous. if it is going to be autonomous, what sensors would it use, if any?

Where did you source the original belts? They look kinda like a supercharger belt & cog. (If that is a supercharger belt, it's worth some good money!)

The belts I tried to use are old Peugeot timing belts. luckely, they cost me nothing but work.

Very nice looking project. I like the track design. I think it's a bit more efficient then the one i'm trying to use. I love your videos.

Thanks Conscripted, what are you using for your tracks? Is your robot on Society of robots?

My bot is still in parts. I don't get much time to build. I'm using a track very similar to the one truckstop describes:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=8718.0
I'm building a Bluetooth controlled tank with an airsoft gun on top. I've got most of the parts but I still have a lot of building to do.
