Title: Design Problem!
Post by: con on December 08, 2010, 08:52:15 AM
Hi everyone,

I really need some assistance with a design probelem. I need to attach a black and decker drill to an end effector. I need to design some sort of pnuematic or manual system that will clamp a B&D drill so it can be connected to the power source and operations ran from the control panel. But i really need to come up with a design of a mechanism that will securly hold a black and decker whilst it drills.

Can anyone help?

What are your limitations? Can you modify the drill? Do you need to be able to pick up and put down the drill autonomously? What is the end effector?

Hi,

Just make a holder out of eg. 10mm aluminum plate (or perhaps 5mm steel) that is formed so the drill can be bolted securely on to it and attach (weld?) a metal tube with some holes through it, that can be used to slide over a bar and locked in place with bolts going through it.
Should be a 2..4 hour job at the most.
