Bluetooth robot control?
« on: August 05, 2015, 03:36:06 AM »
I looking at building a robot with a webcam mounted on it that will stream live video strait to my android phone. The robot will use an arduino uno R3.
Does anybody here have experience on using an android phone to control a robot via Bluetooth.
If so, my questions to you are:
  • Will it cost much to put together?
  • Where can I get a good Bluetooth transmitter/receiver that can communicate with my phone.
  • Will I have to make my own app to display the live video and controls.

Thanks in advance.

First. Give up on streaming video over blutooth, there isn't enough bandwidth. If you want video, do what everyone else does, look up FPV.

Blutooth modules that work with Arduino are widely available and cheap. Adafruit has this:

https://www.adafruit.com/products/1697

If you read  through that you will see that they also have code/instructions for Android, which I think is pretty cool.

I haven't heard of FPV before, but it looks like a good option in the way of streaming video.

Thanks for your help.  ;)
