Title: I fried my Sabertooth 2x12A
Post by: Kisses99 on June 12, 2017, 02:48:13 PM
I hooked up my sabertooth 2x12A to 2 200w wheelchair motors.  Assuming 200w under 24v are draining 8A only.  I used RC receiver as the input signal.  So when I connected everything and tried to adjust balance output of the elevator, the controller board emitted white smoke and fried.
Is the board too small for 200W motors?  The wheels were not even on the ground so there was no load (other than some small torque from the wheel).

I bought 2x32A to replace that not sure if it's good enough..

2 200w wheelchair motors
Kisses, all the wheelchair motors I'v used with Sabertooth drives are over 400W.
I'v had very good results with the 2x60 drive with these motors.

if you power up the Sabertooth drive without removing or supplying power to
the electric brake the motor could draw +40 amps.
