Hexapod design. Comments anyone?
« on: July 09, 2008, 06:49:00 PM »
I was just thinking about how rediculously cool it would be to make a hexapod robot with a unique shape. Read on.

Imagine if you will a rectangle. Now cur a 30, 60, 90 triangle off of each corner, so that the short side runs along the short edge of the rectangle. You are left with an oblong octagon. Imagine further, if you will, attaching a leg to 6 of the 8 sides (along the long sides of the rectangle). you would have a somewhat rectangular hexapod. Now for the difference.

Off the back end of the hexapod, attach a flexible, controllable scorpion-like tail.
Off the front end, attach a square the same width as the width of the front of the hexapod. Now attach two controllable pinchers, and possibly add a camera and mic.speaker combo. with the correct electronics, you can make this robot interact with your desktop computer, and can interact with people through it.

How sweet would it be to see a 3 foot long metal scorpion walking down the sidewalk!!
