help in tracking system
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:59:01 AM »
hi there,
i ordered SKYLAB SKM53 GPS and it arrived yesterday i connected it to my ardunio uno board and i could get my coordinates, now i need to connect it to a toy ship and track it by my pc but i can't find any GPRS settings so I heard that i could use an old mobile phone as an GPRS access point but i couldn't find how, so if you could help me about how to do this or if my GPS has GPRS that i couldn't find it would be great.

It's very unlikely your GPS module has a GPRS feature if it's not mentioned in the data sheet.

Using an old mobile phone for GPRS might conceivably be possible, but might also be really, really hard. Much easier would be to either use an Xbee Pro, if you're OK with line-of-sight range, or a dedicated GPRS module from a place like SparkFun or AdaFruit or whatever.
