The worm is constructed of stainless steel. The worm gear that it meshes to is constructed of 1/8” acetyl which is attached to the 3/8” SS output shaft via a 3/8” set-screw hub. The worm gear is a straight cut gear however it meshes well given the width (no need for a helical gear). This product is designed to drastically slow down the rotation of a gearmotor for low speed applications (such as timelapse videography). The intention was not for super high-torque applications as the set-screw hub will cause the worm gear to spin on the output shaft. The worm drive gearbox is a brand new product; we do plan to release further data about it in the near future.
