Title: Bare minimum for a robot starter kit
Post by: zack on April 26, 2008, 07:06:10 AM
Hello!
Can the gurus recommend the bare minimum in  a robot starter kit?  I've chosen the picaxe 28x as the MC.  What other parts should I order along with this to get started? Thanks!

Picaxe MC board
Breadboard
Jumper cables
USB
LEDs
Resistors
Capacitors
1 servo
2 motors
Motor driver
IR sensor
Old rc toy for frame

You will also need a battery, a battery charger, solder, soldering iron, spool of wire (multiple colors), and some photoresistors.

Also good to have a multimeter for debugging circuits.

Check out my $50 Robot tutorial for ideas:

Hi: Why are you going to get " 1 servo 2 motors" if you are going to use a RC toy? Have you thought about buying a Pic & pic 2 programmer and not buying a Picaxe MC board. The programmer can now be used as a test tool also.
