Arduino: How can I implement bluetooth control?
« on: May 04, 2015, 12:32:28 PM »
Hello SoR forum members. I have a relatively simple question regarding using the arduino to control a robot via bluetooth. I know there are a lot of ways to do this, I've decided to go with using the HC-06 bluetooth slave.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/271703502939?lpid=82&chn=ps
(its far cheaper than the bluetooth shield and should do just what I need for basic communication)

What I really need to know is: what methods are there for using this with an arduino to control the robot? Can I send text commands in a list and have it run pre-programmed routines or movements? Or could I use it like a wireless remote control to send live commands to the robot? A combination of both? also, how would I go about implementing this sort of control method? Any help would be appreciated, I'm somewhat of a newbie when it comes to Arduino.

 ;D Hello!
I found this link on instructables;
http://www.instructables.com/id/Android-controlled-robot/
I am just trying to figure out how  ??? to get my program to the Axon, at this time.
Allegedly, the Axon mote can be used via Bluetooth.(?) Will find out in time,
as I work on the projects in my other post. Good Luck!   ;D ;D ;D

That project was interesting, but it looks to be about 50 times more complicated than what I'm going for, haha. I just want like 1 distance sensor and 2 servos plus an electronic speed controller (which functions just like a servo as far as the arduino is concerned). I don't even have encoders on the thing as it stands. I was hoping for maybe some code snippets or examples of projects that demonstrate how to program the controller to respond to signals from a bluetooth device.

 ;) Hello!
I found a book on Amazon, called;
Raspberry Pi Projects for the Evil Genius
This has a project where you can connect the Bluetooth to control the
robot. There again, maybe more than you wanted, but the option available.
If you are like me, unless you have a specific use for the robot which would
make it remain untouched, you will probably use it for  something else.
Good Luck!   ;D ;D ;D

I actually already own 30 Arduino Projects For the Evil Genius as it was given to me as a birthday present recently, but it only details the use of the bluetooth shield, and in a very different application than what I am planning to use it for, not controlling any mobile hardware. I will look into that, thanks!
