Title: communication/control from computer using wireless (ETHERNET)

hi, i want to control my robot from the compuer using the ethernet. what are the things required to achive this??

i want to develope a interface using JAVA. plz help me. thanks. i want to make the communication range of about 3 miles.

if u have any other options for communicating in this range or greater, then please say..

if possible then plz give a technique for camera communicatiion, else i have to attach an external wireless camera and attach its reciver to a TV/PC..

3 miles is quite a distance.

I've looked into a bit, it depends on the restrictions in your area.

where would this robot be running?

3 miles? not going to happen unless youre military or have some serious connections with some high up people. Why the need for such long distance? And video transmission at that range will be even more difficult.

3 miles, using ethernet? Ain't going to happen. ethernet cable is limited to 100m (well, a lot of stuff limits it, that's the standard value)
Make a wireless network covering a radius of 3 miles, and set up a wireless AP on your robot.
