How would i control a linear actuator like a servo?

You did not specify what linear actuator You are talking about.

Sorry, I don't really get it. Why do You ask how to control linear actuator like servo and then give us a link to an actuator which has pot in it so it can be controlled like servo. Or are you willing to make linear actuator Yourself so that it acts like the ones You linked us to?

Just a guess, but perhaps he means by a hobby servo signal (1..2ms pulse each 20ms).

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?

If you want to control a linear actuator like a servo using hobby servo signal  (1..2ms pulse each 20ms) you may consider using the OpenServo design with a high current MOSFETs for the h-bridge to drive the linear actuator.
