"Wu Yulu, a struggling farmer and father of two, would not be regarded
by most people as a success story. At 42 years of age he has destroyed
his family home, been seriously burned and landed himself almost
?5,000 in debt.

But Mr Wu - who left school at 14 and has no formal technical training
- tells Sky News producer Holly Williams that it's all been in the
name of science.

For the farmer, from Tongzhou, China, is a part-time inventor who
creates 'labour-saving robots' out of scrap he finds at rubbish dumps."

That was freakin awsome!!! With no training within robotics at all he manage to build those robots. But i dont understand how he can afford all he's tools and all of that if he doesn't have a real job, somewhere he make some money!

Problably he sells his works for a living(otherwise people wouldn't know about him and he wouldn't be famous). Anyways, that is what I call a genious, much more intelligent that those people with a IQ more than 135 or with lots of degrees but can't do anything. When I saw this video I got so ashamed of myself that I got depressed. This guy is the king of the robots in China.

Wondering why no companyes hire him for coming up with new robots, i would think there is thousends of those companyes in a country like China! And couse he is so famous he have even been on a TV show companyes should look him up!

I'm speechless that was amazing.  At first I thought oh thats cool that hes made some neat little robots but then when i saw the big one i was taken back. (and the little one he made for his son is  cool too) Who wouldnt buy their child a Mr.Wu Robot to walk them around!

Im 14 to, i can build robots, maybe it seems like you cant do anything like the other guys on this forum but read about robotics and ask questions is the answar to be a good robot builder (thats at least how i did it)

cool how he builds those robots, I saw some pretty advanced mechanics there... atlthough it's not very efficient etc.

for example, the big one, it would be far more efficient, quiet,...better with wheels.
It's a bit for show i guess

ehhhh not really. If you think about it, without schooling he had more time to fiddle around with mechanics

Albert Einstein was kicked out of grade school by the school master because he thought Albert was mentally challenged... I think we can ALL agree that he was a crazy nut but a friggen genius crazy nut

In some cases, schooling can be a hindrance. I know of High School dropouts with sponsorships from NASA! You just have to play yours cards to their fullest.

I'm sure you know one or two, but howmany do you know that are now floor managers and Petroleum Distribution Technicians ? 

The chinese dude sure can play with mechanics, but he has a minimum of electronics knowledge (for what I can see). Sure, he uses scrap so there's not much usefull electronics to salvage.... But still ... He burned down his house
