Arduino Durability/Sensativity?
« on: April 09, 2010, 08:32:20 PM »
How durable is the Arduino Duemilanove?  I'm kind of paranoid of static and whatnot, i always keep it in the little baggie it came in, but what can it stand?  And what about magnetic fields?  Do they wipe the memory?

Its pretty damn tough! As long as you don't purposely built up a static charge, you should be fine.
I recall Razor or Airman00 chucked a roboduino in a bowl of water and it was unaffected!

As for the magnets, im not too sure but it probably wouldn't be wise to start rubbing magnets all over your arduino :P

Ive rubbed an arduino with neodymium magnets and it was fine  :)

I personally just throw things around, and everything has been generally OK

Just out of curiosity or what?

For most things you can throw them around a fair bit, it depends on a case by case basis.
You don't have to be too careful with it, its not going to brake if you touch it ;)

Ok thats good to hear :D for the magnets, i found  a bunch of car speakers, so i have them stacked on my desk and i dropped Arduino in the middle of them. SO I was hoping it would be ok.

Thanks guys!
