Title: motor driver???

i made AUV(autonomous underwater vehicle) in which i used sbc, from sbc i send signals to pic microcontroller then l298 motordriver.but its nt as efficent. i want to replace pic and i am thinking abt direct serial motor driver. any other idea regarding this....

This item from pololu (http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/705) might be what you need. There's also the double version (for quite cheap, compared to the cost of two units) and the IC alone.

Or the Dimension Engineering drives also interface via serial.  Note that it is 5V serial, so if your SBC has an RS232 port you will have to level-shift it to 0-5V with a MAX232 or equivalent.

That's the info I gave you.

I have one driving 2 24VDC motors via a serial link right now.
