Title: my edge detecting and obstecle avpoiding robot
Post by: aruna1 on December 11, 2009, 08:53:44 AM
This is my third robot.I made this for our departments annual exhibition "Expose". This is a edge detecting and obstacle avoiding robot. It can move without falling in to pits and without hitting obstacles on its way.
I used microchip 12F675 as its brain. 6 LDRs and 6 white LEDs are used for edge detection and 2 sharp range finders are used for obstacle detection .

All your comments are appriciated.

What I meant is:
what is that white coating on the table?
It looks kind of like a white plastic sheet, but it has those stripes on the sides of it...
Just wondering

another question: Why use visible light as opposed to IR?

well since this one is made as a exhibit it has to be more attractive.if i use IR people will not see any thing attractive.normally people visiting exhibitions dont know technical stuff like IR obstecle detection etc.for them what they see is what they understand.
this is how my robot became most attractive robot in the exhibtion. :) (small kids and grown ups loved to see it working evan though its not a big deal to us.)

another reason is white light reflects on most surfaces except black,so should work on most of surfaces without tuning.

Great stuff! It is good to see a 'little' micro at work. Out of interest how did you multiplex? as you have 8 sensors and a motor drive on a micro with 6 IO pins.

no multiplexing is done.
