Title: aligator almost eats robot
Post by: Admin on August 22, 2007, 12:27:56 PM
Apparently the guy was using the robot to inspect an underwater gait, but then the gator decided to inspect the robot . . . I like the mini-cam that shows the gator teeth . . .

More interesting info on the robot can be found here:

And another fun video

Hmm inspecting underwater gaits huh? I guess you COULD use a bot to study under water walking manners but I think theyre better used for inspecting gates and things like that

=P

Bustin' your spelling chops again!

Pretty interesting videos ;)

Makes me want to make a sub robot to, but where I live ( Belgium) there's no clear whater anywhere...
So that makes it kindof not worth the effort. :( Because you couldn't see a thing with camera's.

Anyway, most hobbyist will make a sub robot out of PVC pipes. I've seen a few made in an H form, with two propellers in the two lower ends of the H, and two headlights in the upper ends of the H. The camera was in the center.

Although it's not aerodynamic i think this is the best way to go as a hobbyist.

two more ROV vs animal videos

Quote
West Coast of Vancouver Island an 80lb Octopus Doflieni - Giant Pacific Octopus, tentacle spread of 16ft, charges an underwater robot (ROV)and wraps a tentacle around the vehicles manipulator claw, in full reverse the ROV blasts the octopus away with thruster/propeller wash.
basically, a squid gets owned by a ROV

A Work Class Remotely Operated Vehicle's Pilots must have been pretty surprised when this Sperm Whale appeared in front of them with the robots umbilical cable caught round it..

the octopus video is actually pretty funny. ;D
And I'd love to seed the face of the guy who's operating that second robot when the whale came in the picture :D
