Hi All,
I've spend a lot of time searching for a high performance closed loop motion control solution that can provide me precision PID control for position, velocity and torque control of DC motors. If I understand it correctly, most robot builders use custom microcontroller based implementations. Are there any off the shelf solutions besides Dynamixel from Robotis which I understand is the benchmark in the research/DIY robotics space.
http://en.robotis.com/index/product.php?cate_code=101010The others than I've come across is the O-Drive
https://hackaday.io/project/11583-odrive-high-performance-motor-control but its not clear if it provides feedback control.
and the many low cost controllers on RobotShop and Pololu which hardly provide basic position control.
We want to build a humanoid robot (around 16 degrees of freedom for the two legs) but our finances arent allowing us to spend the greens on these expensive Dynamixel motors. Wondering if anyone knew of a solution that could work on generic motors that we could hook up encoders to but which allows easy command and control of many motors
Many thanks!
