Peano Hassel Actuators

A while back Peano/Hassel soft actuators got a little attention but I haven't heard anythign since then.
I'm VERY insterested in making a few but haven't taken the time to place that poker in my fire yet.
Has anyone else taken an interest in the actuators?

So far HASSEL actuators are the closest things I've seen to artificial muscles.
I don't really care about the high speed of actuation so much as the fact that they are soft, cheap, and it seems to be rather simple to do position sensing with them.
