mapping orientation of rover on a course
« on: January 30, 2010, 12:50:51 AM »
Hi, im trying to design a rover that dodges objects on a predetermined course.  the problem im having right now is if my rover snags a wall and gets disoriented, it loses knowledge of where it would be on the course.  I'm trying to find a way to keep track of the location of my rover on the course and which direction it is facing.

I've looked into a IR transceiver, but the range of the transceiver seems to only reach 20 feet(~6.1 meters).  our course is aprox 30 meters-40 meters.  please message me back on some ideas that i could use.

Do a Google search for Eurobot robots, you may see them using a wireless triangulating system for robot positioning...
Check out the uBotino robot controller!
