Title: robotic arm position overtravel
Post by: engr1 on January 07, 2015, 11:54:28 AM
How is this done, by a software limit, limit overtravel switch??

 :) Hello!
Definitely need more information. If limit switch, the
switch is physically on the shaft.( could be infrared, SPST, potentiometer, etc)
If a software limit, the motor is of concern. Servo's can be tracked
in the distance they go, by the number of pulses given. A formula is
given on your ordered servo to compute the distance, or degrees.
Good luck! ;D

it is common to design systems that use both. i.e. a software limit is used as the primary limit and the hard/limit switch is used as a safeguard.
