Altering servo Hitec HS-5745 MG
« on: November 19, 2010, 05:43:18 AM »
I am planning to use two HS-5745MG servos, that have been altered for continuous rotation, with 10 cm diameter wheels for a robot I'm building.  I am trying to work through the tutorial, but I'm stuck with the rotational speed.  The only specs I can find for the servo are:

Dimensions (mm): 29.0 x 59.0 x 52.0
Weight (grams): 161.0
Speed (sec): 0.18
Torque (Kg.cm): 15.00
Ball Raced: Yes

In the end I want to know how fast will my robot travel along the horizontal and what is the max. weight it can be?  Any help/pointers much appreciated.

Speed is usually given in seconds per sixty degrees, so if each full rotation of the wheel (6 * 60) takes 1.08s, then the wheel rotates at 55.56rpm.  2 * Pi * radius = Circumference, so c = 31.415cm.

55.56rpm * 31.415cm/r = 1745.4174 cm / min

Max weight is dependent on your design.
