oscilloscope recommendation?

Im thinking of buying an oscope for personal home use . . .

I want something relatively small and portable (under 5 pounds), and under $200. If it can connect to my laptop that would be great.

I want at least 1MHz bandwidth, and input range of at least +/- 25V, and have an automatic frequency counter. I like autoset buttons

Anyone with recommendations?

Depends on your needs and budget.
As others have mentioned Bitscope http://bitscope.com/ is cool. Its way cooler because the software can run on Linux!
There are others out there, like this one, http://microcontrollershop.com/product_info.php?products_id=1426.

Both do realtime display of data and can save to file for later analysis. Both have high frequency >= 50MHz support.


Am still checking my resources if I  should also get one I have a logic analyzer, my gripe is that it can display realtime data from the device under test, that's where the DSO comes in. The logic analyzer has decodings for common protocols, I2C, serial, SPI. Makes life easier.

I'm quite satisfied with this, for some of what I do (although I'm more to having real knobs and switches) and paired with their signal generator, you can really get some work done (have to make do with their 1MHz generator so far though, since their PCGU1000 isn't released until around late August where I live, but still a nice setup).

I have downloaded a few of those freeware O-Scopes that use the PC's sound card... they are not very good... well that was my thought until i found this one!
