Clockwork devices

Does anyone know where I can find information on clockwork robots??? Is it hard to build them???

Do you mean the automated robots developed around the 17th and 18th century that represent some of the early examples of "true" robots because they were programmable through a system of interchangeable cams. The cams allowed them to perform different actions; an example of this is a dancing automaton. When different cams are used, different dances are preformed.

Most ones made today are made out of metal (aluminum or tin) as in the ones found here... http://www.otherlandtoys.co.uk/gadgets-clockwork-toys-c-81_38.html

If you want to make one out of wood, I might suggest hunting around woodworker forums... most of the folks here are building robots that use electronics to control the robots, not mechanical cams and gears.
