You said in your $50 robot tutorial that when it comes to tools and found around the house stuff,you will need "wires, screws, batteries..." What kind of wires, and what do I do with them?

hookup wire.
pieces of metal, normally coated in plastic. single core
try look up wire on google etc
they are used for hooking up your circuits.............see?

Just keep reading the tutorial and it will become obvious.
The wires are for wiring up the circuit board, etc.
Everything is described in detail . . .
