I've looked around and read the tutorials, googled, youtubed..etc. Looking for some direction on where to begin an undertaking with and existing XYZ gantry setup that was given to me free :). The goal is to pick up small components from point A and place to B, and then to C.
What I have to work with are three linear stages with 9 pin connectors coming off of each and headed to an old ISA card. I am assuming that these are running the power and signal to the motors (I left my notes at work as far as the motor mfg.).
I've been trying to find an easy way of controlling these motors. I will be doing all of my control via Labview or VEE Pro. But every controller I seem to find is a breadboard mock up that someone made themselves.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to figure out what is wired to what, so you need to make yourself a schematic.
Find out what type of motor used? Stepper Motor? Brushed DC Motor? Brushless DC Motor (BLDC)? AC Induction Motor (ACIM)?
Only when you know the type of the motors then you can find ways to controlling these motors.

Well, I was able to track down the part number of the stepper motor and it is a bipolar Sonceboz 6500 www.acpd.co.uk/sei/s/1488/f27 (http://www.acpd.co.uk/sei/s/1488/f27). Can anyone suggest a controller that can handle 3 of these?

From your first post, I get the impression that you want to buy a finished product, rather than making it yourself - is that correct?

This is correct. I would like to have a controller that I can easily send commands to and have it handle the rest. I am assuming that they make a controller with a power supply and support for 3 axis. Any suggestions?
