Serial Plus Parallel Battery wiring
« on: January 09, 2008, 02:47:02 AM »
I've discovered these very high capacity batteries here: http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=710

I'm seriously considering their use in my project. But first I'd like to know a little more about wiring batteries in series and parallel to make a custom pack.

Just so you guys can get an good idea, the motors on my robot will be a work horse! (If that's even a word :P where have I heard it before ;D); I don't know how much current they'll drive off of on my finished robot, but their stall current is 17 Amps. My robots's expected to be pretty heavy and the gearmotors have a stall torque of about 2500 oz-in.

Could someone give me an example of how I would construct a 12V power supply with the highest amout of AH possible? The only way I can think of is lining them up for 10 cells in series and getting 12V with just 10 AH. But if they can do that with the same number of 5000 mAh cells, like they did here http://www.all-battery.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1347, I think I must be missing something.
I think the chauffeur did it.

.......

He did.

That has got to be a typo. It's impossible.
For more questions about series and parallel, read the SoR tutorial on batteries. :)

btw: those are some cooool batteries ;D
