Title: My first Tutorial -- Make your own Li-Ion battery pack from obselete gear.
Post by: madsci1016 on January 19, 2010, 12:28:22 AM
This is my first tutorial, thrown together in an hour, to help a friend out. You guys might enjoy it too.

It goes over how i took batteries from an old cable modem and made them into usable 14.4V 2.2Ah packs for my SAGAR robot, at about $10 a pack.

My Li-Ion batteries with protection boards are much safer then Li-po packs with nothing. You could short my packs, and nothing would happen. If you short a Li-Po pack, the soft cells would blow. A group in my senior design made that mistake. It was not pretty.
