Title: The search engine
Post by: gamefreak on January 30, 2010, 01:10:17 PM
I was trying to see if anyone had any knowledge of building wireless transmitters/receivers and the search engine decided to do a very useless thing.

Typing in: Building a transmitter
returned a set of search results where every occurrence of the letter a was highlighted. So just wondering if this is a bug or I just don't use search enough to notice things like this.

I was just looking into what I would need to build something that would allow to micro controllers to communicate over the airways, it was mostly something to distract me during work and the fact that every occurrence of the letter a was highlighted kinda annoyed me(the room full of noisy kids didn't help either)

I was actually looking for something similar to this since its link seems to be dead: http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2006/03/how_to_build_a_wireless_r.html (http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2006/03/how_to_build_a_wireless_r.html)

you could try bluetooth it might work? you could get them to interface through a laptop :P
you can pick up a blue tooth dongle from amazon cheap
getting it for a microcontrooler might be harder though

To be honest, I'm not that happy with the search engine either. But I've done my best. Just put the phrase in quotes, or remove the letter 'a'.

Don't confuse SoR forum search for google! :P

If you want to search any site, do this in a google search:
site:www.societyofrobots.com build a transmitter

Why don't you just put a google power search on SoR?

I did ;)

(go to the main page, and its the search box at the top left)

I kinda don't like it though, as it sometimes displays more ads than useful results, and I can't disable all those ads . . .
