there seems to be a kinda random rubiks cube craze at my school at the moment. we r going to attempt breaking the world record so look out for dr challoners grammar school in the next edition ;D

Yeah, dellagd, try that with sheet metal (that's how the lego affectionate guys call the other robots)! I noticed in another thread that you never liked the Lego way of building robots.
Over the years I have seen many incredible machines and robots built from Lego parts. And rule number one is never glue the parts! I had lots of fun building stuff that I could not have done it without a machine shop. I have learned many things about building a strong chassis, a good geartrain, and even simple mechanical machines (that are pretty complicated, like a one motor and one battery powered wall follower, or a mechanical sumo robot - with a 5 second delay mechanical starter). You just don't know what you're missing.
