In WebbotLib's manual, it lists this chip:
http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/766 (http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/766)
But I found it at sparkfun (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=252 (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=252))and I am ordering other things from them too, so I was wondering if it would work just the same as the one from pololu. Also, in the datasheet from sparkfun it shows lots of capacitors and resisters between the accelerometer and MCU. are all those really necessary?

It should work the same, but the pololu one has a built in 3.3 regulator, the sparkfun does not, so you will need a 3.3v power source.
Also the sparkfun board has all of the resistors and capacitors built on it, so you won't have to add any.

well, the axonII has 3.3v built in so thats great!
