I just got inspired by the below video. I'm thinking it'll be a neat new way of covering up your robot to make it look good.
BMW says the flexible, stretchable water resistant translucent man-made fabric skin – polyurethane-coated Spandex, is resilient and durable.

It's cool, I saw it a while ago. The question is, is it waterproof? Does the car have a top? How exactly do you wash it? Take it off and throw it into the washing machine? The idea is cool, but it may not be applicable to the car industry. It does LOOK awesome though.

it's definitely waterproof, they most likely thought it through, i was bit dumbfound on how it's heat resistant(engine)...
