well the best way to find out is to watch some videos.

http://www.cwhaticando.com/view/?t=Build%20Your%20Own%20Track%20Drive%20Robot&itemParent=154 (http://www.cwhaticando.com/view/?t=Build%20Your%20Own%20Track%20Drive%20Robot&itemParent=154)

1 wheel is conected to a motor or other form of propultion, the others are wheels to support the tracks.

what the videos and look closely at the tracks. and the site content is good too

cheers
