Title: Replacing USB Cable with Bluetooth
Post by: taghavi on July 09, 2010, 11:13:56 AM
Hi.  I am a total newbie.  From my laptop, I drive a simple motorized device through a USB cable which connects to a board that drives several regular motors.  I want to do away with the USB cable. My laptop has Bluetooth. Can I just plug in a USB Bluetooth adapter to my board's USB port?

If not as simple as that, what's the minimum I need to do away with the cable...

Thanks in advance for your help

I think to answer your question correctly we will need a little more information. What board are you referring to? Is it drawing power from the USB on your computer or is that just a communication medium. If it is just a communication medium and there is a UART available then a simple bluesmirf may do the trick.

There are tutorials for UART and Bluetooth on this site. They may answer your questions. If not provide us with a few more specifics and we will be glad to help.

Good luck
