Title: Identify symbol

A buddy of mine asked me to identify this symbol for him, but I've never seen it before, I want to say capacitor but I'm not 100%

It would be a capacitor if it was like this:

Do you have a picture of it?
Could be a set of plugs...

I have seen diagrams where ------//------- is used to represent longer lines that have been shortened to enable a large diagram to fit into a smaller space. Your symbol could be a variant of that.

In electronic terms the dashed line may represent a line that has been removed or maybe a non-physical link (wifi, bluetooth etc). As for the curved symbols I would agree with voyager2 that they probably mean a connector or connection.
