Title: CD V-700 no ticky ticky
Post by: blackbeard on July 27, 2010, 06:00:02 PM
hey yalls it's been a while! i've been away for the last 3 months on cf basic training if anyone remembers me. so anyway before i left i managed to pick up a CD V-700 guiger counter from my college dumpster (oh physics department how i love thee) and after spending $15 on batteries i descovered that it doesn't want to tick! the dial moves when expose the tube to the test isotope under the sticker but i want a tick tick tick! from what i understand this model is supposed to tick. anyone know if this is a common problem with this model or where i should look to fix it? i found something that "looks" like a speaker inside but there's got to be 5 wires comming from it, one of which is the common ground so i don't know if that's what it really is. i noticed there's a jack that says "phone" so i'm thinling that it may have to have an external headphone set but the jack is a really wierd one that looks a bit like the end of a lightbulb. either way it's a pretty awesome piece of cold war junk to stick with all the rest of my old junk for display purposes of course. no dissasemble!

Well, im pretty sure these models come with headphones. Have you tried sticking in any connectors yet?
I'll google around a bit and see if i can find out anything more about it.

Hmm, well, maybe try to acquire some 3.5, 6.35 and 2.5mm plugs and try them, and maybe hook up your own headset if you find something that works?
