Title: scavanging...

Before I take this computer monitor apart, do you think I could find anything of use inside?

Depends...
Maybe you can salvage some switches, transformers, magnets. It's gotta be a lot of work since most chips are soldered on the board directly (at least the boards in my era), ie no carriers. If its a CRT, be very careful with the tube. And please be very sure of what you're doing, dismantling a monitor has potential health hazards.

When I was younger (back in the Philippines), I used to sell the copper found on the windings of the focusing and deflection coils from discarded TV sets, never touched anything else.
