Title: Where to buy components in NZ
Post by: nm1 on February 07, 2011, 09:09:26 PM
Hi there,
I live in New Zealand and I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy components and micro-controllers from locally.
Currently I buy from active components.com which is pretty good but I was wondering if there is anywhere else where I don't have to pay much for shipping.
thanks

Jaycar is a shop in australia and have some stores in NZ they don't sell as much as sparkfun but they do sell Atmeg8 microcontrollers. also they sell projects published in Silicon Chip magazine

For electronic components i get all of my stuff from futurlec.com.au (http://futurlec.com.au)

for orders to Australia and NZ the shipping is really good. for $49 worth of product shipping is just $4!

Here is the shipping costs page.http://www.futurlec.com.au/Delivery.jsp (http://www.futurlec.com.au/Delivery.jsp)

with their standard post it takes around 2 weeks(well it has for me and i am in Australia) which has not been a problem for me but if you need it quicker they can ship express post.

I have had no bad experiences with them and have gotten what i ordered every time. another plus is that their packaging is good and well thought out!
