Title: SoR app?
Post by: dellagd on March 09, 2011, 05:44:37 AM
Just thought it might be a good idea now-a-days since almost everyone is always wired in with their smartphones and stuff. If an app isnt possible, than a mobile site would be just as fine.

Anyone up for it (I'd try but I'm making another app right now) ?

A mobile site? SoR works fine on mobile phones, I gave it compatibility like 4 years ago :P

Any thoughts about apps? I'd be willing to cut a deal with anyone who wants to give it a go ;D

I meant a simplified site for the mobile version, so things are easy to do on small screens admin :P

Are you on a 1"x1" screen? :P

I have an old smart phone, about 2"x3", and its acceptable for me . . .

I "think" he means having a different HTML layout (ie minimal graphics, no javascript/AJAX etc).

Don't think the old "WAP" mobile standard really made it in the USA - but this is what it was for. Sites like the 'bbc' then detected you were on a cell phone and used the WAP version of their site.

That being said - the BBC have now suspended the WAP versions of their site saying that it was hardly used anymore now that people have smart phones with the same capabilities as pc browsers.

I've definitely considered the m.societyofrobots.com WAP site concept . . . but . . . rewriting the forum is out of the question (it's code base is massive), and the main site is already very simple so no real advantage to it.
