Title: getting started axon 2 - which avr studio version

New axon 2 in postbox today woo hoo!

Just want to load the right one before I start.

When i go to the axon 2 getting started page STEP 2: Install AVR Studio , it says to use AVR Studio, version 4.17 (112mb).
It then says.....................Further AVR Studio upgrades (untested by SoR) can be found on the AVR Studio Download page. Or for direct links to download tested upgrades go here...........(forum pageTopic: new WinAVR and AVR Studio versions)
When i go here
1. Can i now use 4.18 instead of 4.17 for Axon 2? is 4.18 now tested as ok?
2. If 4.18 is now ok do i load 4.18 exe then 4.18 sp1, sp2 , sp3 in that order?
3. can i load 4.18 then sp3 only?
4. When i use link to 4.18 sp2 it goes to Atmel page and shows avr studio 5 in beta Should i go directly to avr studio 5?

Thanks ???

You can use any version of AVR Studio you want, they all work. The later versions of it have fewer bugs, however.

For some reason Atmel decided to remove sp2 from their server, I'm not sure why. Does sp3 or sp4 install fine for you?

I personally don't like v5, but other people here have said they liked it. WebbotLib is supposedly compatible with v5, but I had some problems and gave up without really trying. I'm happy with v4.18 for now.

Thanks admin,
Just installed winavr 4.18. then sp1 then sp3. All installed OK. SP2 was not on avr site so didn't install sp2 in sequence. see how it goes.
