Title: Building a hero 2000 replica need help with drive.

Im working on building a robot thats a replica of the old hero 2000 robots from heathkit. I was wondering what motors would be best for the drive train on such a bot. Also the best motor controler for them as well.

Would a stepper motor be good for this or should i use something else?
