Title: UV light

can a UV light (a flourenscent tube for example) power a solar panel?? as normal 'white' light struggles to power a panel. i just wondered is it the UV rays from the sun rather than actual light that powers the panel??

I don't believe so- It would take more than one though, if it would work, I think.. :P

No, they dont power solar panels. Theoricaly, it would have been ok to use IR and UV but in real life, at least with the available materials, both UV and IR will damage tha panels in long term. Because of that nowadays, panels come with protection. When you buy one, you will usually see: weatherprof and/or UV resistant.
