What should i start with doing this X-Y motion table. this is my finaly year project. hope that have some body will give some guild line that how to start.

Now I'm having a troubles is about me should use what model of micro controller? In this site me din have any knowledge about it.
I'm trying to make the x-y table can memorize some coordinate, than after pressing start, the table will move to the specify location by itself.

Instead of using encoders and DC motors, you have the other option of using stepper motors and a stepper motor driver.

(its a fairly badly written tutorial, just never got around to fixing it up)
Lastly, I highly recommend designing the whole thing in CAD first. Use Google Sketchup (its free).
