Title: Breadboard Question

I bought a breadboard from radioshack recently, and it came with a very thin flat sheet of metal about the same size as the breadboard.  The breadboard works just as its supposed to without it.  The package doesn't say anything about it.  What is it for?

Edit: Question resolved.  Apparently putting it under the breadboard helps to reduce interference from motors and AC mains and such.

Hi,

Remember to ground the metal.
Another option is to mount the entire board on a 2..3mm tick aluminum plate slightly larger than the board. ground the metal and add rubber feet and you have a slightly heavier and much more stable product.

If you go with a longer (or wider) piece than needed, a 90° bend with strategically sized and placed holes makes it easy to use buttons, potentiometers and the like.
