Title: modified servos
Post by: js on October 13, 2011, 11:16:43 PM
I am a begineer and plan to use servos to drive the wheels of the robot. For full directional control i need modiifed servos. If any one has recommendations on places to get modified servos for <10$ please let me know.
Thanks

I think servo modification is a DIY procedure and not ready-made-to-buy-of-the-shelf one. ACTUATORS - HOW TO MODIFY A SERVO (http://www.societyofrobots.com/actuators_modifyservo.shtml) tutorial should be useful for You.

Actually you can buy these off the shelf. Parallax, for example has one http://www.parallax.com/StoreSearchResults/tabid/768/List/0/SortField/4/ProductID/102/Default.aspx?txtSearch=continuous+rotation (http://www.parallax.com/StoreSearchResults/tabid/768/List/0/SortField/4/ProductID/102/Default.aspx?txtSearch=continuous+rotation)

I have a couple of these and they work well. Sparkfun and Pololu also have some available. They're not less than $10 though (not much more). For under $10 you'll probably have to modify one your self.
