Title: Troubles With The Range Test In XCTU
Post by: Mastermime on December 03, 2011, 09:51:53 PM
Hello everyone,

I am new to wireless communication so I need a bit of help.  I purchased the Xbee XSC development kit from digikey (They now come with two USB development boards instead of one rs 232 board and one usb dev board).

I have spent hours trying to set up a range test in XCTU between my two Xbee Pro XSCs. The XSC with the RPSMA antenna is hooked up to my laptop (Windows 7) and the other is hooked up to my desktop.  Here is the settings I have on both laptops.

Digi PKG-U Serial Port Adapter (COM5)

Baud: 9600
Flow Control: None
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1

API: enabled

When I press test/query on my laptop, it comes up with the settings of the other modem

Communication with modem..OK
Modem type=XBP0o-XSC
Modem firmware version 1022

Serial Number = 5B859A0F

However, when I press test/ query on my desktop it says 'unable to connect with modem.  Why is this happening?

As result of this, I cannot perform a range test, it says 'Timeout waiting for data' when I press 'start' on both computers.  They both are acting as receivers and neither one of them are transmitting data, even though they are transceivers.

My laptop's Xbee can communicate with desktop's Xbee, but my computer's Xbee cannot communicate with my laptop's Xbee.
