Title: How does a computer mouse work?
Post by: crioa on July 12, 2007, 08:29:34 AM
I just want to use my old mouse to control a robot. So I need to know the circuit.
*Obs:
Its a simple serial mouse with three buttons.

I know my post does not answer your question, but it is somewhat related and you may find intersting/useful:  http://imakeprojects.com/projects/seeing-eye-mouse/

Not quite sure what you are asking for... do you want to know what each pin does on a computer's DB-9 Serial Port?

Check out http://www.lammertbies.nl/comm/cable/RS-232.html for a complete description of what each pin is for (both 9 and 25 pin configurations)... I'm happy to reply to messages like the one above this, but I wonder if folks like S. Karim have ever heard of a website called Google.com?  I simply typed "pin out of serial port" at that Google.com site and it told me what website contains the relevant information I am looking for!  It's pretty cool... I assume others here are aware of Google.com?  If not, you should check it out!

hey mr.jerk, the way you posted made it sounded like you were going to tell us, rather than give us a link. i couldnt care less what the hell a db9 does but you sounded like you were offering to tell us so instead of ignoring you id rather say "yeah id like to know". geez didnt expect such a a-hole attitude.
