Title: How do I use 10" 3D printed leg sections to make 24" legs?

I have a 3D printer capable of printing 10" parts. I'm working on a design for a two-legged robot that will need leg sections around 24" long.

How do I attach 3D printed sections to each other in a way which will allow a total leg 24" long and give as much strength as the original sections?

I'd say print with a tube series of holes on both parts and then insert steel tubing (dowel pins or w/e) down the holes on both parts running at least 6" of overlap into both parts so that the insides are steel reinforced as the joint seam.  Then just glue them together as usual.
