Title: Color Sensor
Post by: djweddle on September 16, 2007, 09:33:20 PM
I need a color sensor for a robotics project.  The sensor needs to detect Red, Orange, Purple, Green, and Pale Yellow.  It would be best of the sensor could be connected to a central motherboard by short wires.  I know little about color sensors and was wondering if someone could provide some recommendations.

The only time I needed a color sensor, I used a camera so I cant help you but tell you to google for it. However the little I know about them might be usefull: lego mindstorms have very good color sensors.

Also I don't think that there is a sensor only for orange, purple and pale yellow directly because those colors are not primary colors but combinations of red, green and blue. As long as you have a sensor that that can detect RGB, you will be able to detect any other color.
