Title: Do we need to use the programmer header in $50 robot??

Do we need to use the programmer header in $50 robot??
Or can we substitute for it by using some other stuff??
I am not able to get the program header...pls help....

no you dont need it . . . unless you want to program your robot :P

hmmm so what problem are you having with it? do you mean you cant find those metal pins (male headers) to use?

Yes...I am not able to get the male headers near my region....
i hav got a circuit to take connections from a 10 pin header to a serial port...
So can i use the serial port along with this circuit in place of the header??

The answer is yes, take for example the Minipov3 from Ladyada:

This uses what is called the 'dasa' programming mode with AVRdude
